POOLS NATIONAL PARK:
1.ZAMBEZI RIVER TENTED CAMP
ZImbabwe’s
prime world heritage site.
Mana Pools was established as a national park in 1963 and has
been protected as a non-hunting area since 1955. Mana comprises
of 219,600 ha of prime wilderness with extensive river frontage
along the Zambezi river.
The rich and varied fauna populations tend to concentrate on the
floodplain during the dry season when water elsewhere is scarce
and when the numerous acacia albida shed their protein-rich pods.
Mammals include elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, hippopotamus,
hyena, honey badger, warthog, zebra, cheetah, wild dog and a wide
range of antelope species including kudu, eland, bushbuck, waterbuck
and impala.
Bird life is prolific with over 380 species present.
Mana has well developed woodland of acacia (acacia albida), mahogany
(trichilia emetica) and sausage (kigelia africana) trees. The
valley floor is dominated by mopane (colophospermum mopane) and
deciduous thickets known as jesse.
The magic of Mana stems from the all
pervading sense of the wild and natural, the parks remoteness
and the licence to wonder on foot from 6am to 6pm according to
the dictates of individual courage!

2.CHITAKE SPRINGS TENTED CAMP
3
NIGHTS/4DAYS - MAXIMUM 8 PAX:
The
Chitake River has its source in the Mana Pools escarpment of
the Zambezi Valley. A perennial spring, at the foothills, which
flows for 1km within the canyon walls of the Chitake River provide
the only source of water for a large concentration of game in
this area. Herds of buffalo, elephant, zebra and antelope, which
depend on this water for survival, sustain prides of lion and
numerous leopard.
Activities
include bush walks and sitting in "hides" observing
game at the water. There are no facilities provided by National
Parks at Chitake Springs, therefore, along with the camp staff,
beds, sheets, blankets and camp equipment, we have a portable
bush shower - basic, but adequate - giving the real atmosphere
of a safari camp.
